Low-E Glass Windows

Low-emissivity (Low-E) windows are like sunglasses for your house-the panes reduce glare and filter out bad UV rays. Low-E glass is a type of reflective glass that is growing in popularity, especially in residential and office buildings. Low-E coats are thin metallic coatings that reduce visible light transmission by about 10 percent. This specialized glass is applied using either the vacuum (sputter) or pyrolytic process.

Because panes resist ultraviolet light, Low-E glass prevents damage from sunlight. This protects carpet, draperies, sofas and other home furnishings from fading and aging prematurely. Most importantly, Low-E windows help control the climate in your home, which reduces energy costs. This glass allows sunlight into a room without letting heat inside. Low-E glass’ ability to reflect the sun’s glare and heat increases your home’s comfort and value.

If you’re ready to replace your windows with new Low-E glass windows, consult your local Glass Doctor to find the best solution for your home.
